We curate culinary goods for the discovery and delight of our customers. Our mission is to share our love of cooking with you by sourcing products created with passion and integrity by fellow food enthusiasts. Here, you'll find items that are lovely enough to give as a gift while functional enough to become your new favorite kitchen companion. Each item is tasted and tested before making it to our shelves to ensure you are getting the best in quality, flavor, and use. 

Since opening in 2011 in northern Virginia, we have become a local destination for pantry items featuring wholesome ingredients and human stories. We are fortunate to know so many of our producers. From small estates located throughout the world, we offer the current harvest of award-winning extra-virgin olive oils to provide you with only the freshest, most nutrient rich EVOOs. Our artisan-blended spices and seasonings are made from organic ingredients recently grounded for maximum flavor. Our small-batch sauces, spreads, and condiments are always preservative-free. And our pastas are made using ancient methods and time-honored ingredients.  We curate flavorful and functional products from makers with passion and integrity. 

We seek the best-in-class culinary specialities for those who seek a well-stocked pantry including pure distilled rose water from Lebanon, bourbon barrel smoked paprika, organic Indian ghee, freshly harvested Moroccan saffron, and locally roasted chocolate for baking or sipping - just to name a few.

Founder's Story

My passions are travel and cooking. On my first post-college adventure to Europe, north Africa, and the Middle East, I discovered flavors I never knew existed.  Time in Chile with the Peace Corps introduced a whole new palate experience. With each adventure around the world, I come home equipped with new flavor combinations and preparation techniques that I can't wait to play with in my kitchen.

As my own kitchen and cupboard overflowed with the collections of my travels, I decided to open a boutique store to share my passion with friends and neighbors – The Cookery was born. I still travel and return with great finds for our store shelves and ideas for your recipes.  When at home, I continue to seek creative makers who have something special to offer that will further our customers' delight.

We are excited to be a part of the growing culinary movement in the greater Washington, D.C. area bringing artisan goods to area food enthusiasts.
